Underclass Games: Team Gold Analysis

On Tuesday, July 29th, PBR Indiana hosted its Inaugural Underclass Games at Grand Park in Westfield, IN. A total of 70 players from across the state participated in the highly talented event.
In the coming weeks, we will be adding and updating profiles for each of the players in attendance, including complete analysis and video.
Today we take a look at notes on players from Team Gold:
Andrew Lawvere, C/3B, Eastbrook HS, 2017: 5 foot 10 inches, 187 pounds, 8.25/60,2.03-2.09 pop time. Athletic catcher with quick hands and fluid feet. Throws are 75 mph to second on target and with carry. Hits in a balanced stance with a short stride, his lower body explodes and generates a fast bat on a level plain with extension through contact. He is a pull hitter that will hit for power.
Brandon Reid, C/RHP, Brownsburg HS, 2017: 5 foot 9 inches, 165 pounds, 7.08/60, 2.01-2.09 pop time, Flexible catcher that can handle low pitches with ease. Throws 76 mph to second with a short ¾ arm slot, throws are on target with carry. He has soft hands, receives well with quick feet and a solid ball transfer. He has a compact quick swing from a balanced stance with a short stride and a strong lower body. On the mound he fills up the strike zone with 78-81 mph fastball that has life and a 66-70 mph 12/6 o clock curveball that has late action.
Cameron Pferrer, C/RHP, Carmel HS, 2017: 5 foot 10 inches, 165 pounds, 7.21/60, 2.11-2.12 pop time, Athletic frame, works hard behind the plate, throws 75 mph to 2b with a long arm and on target. He has average hands, fluid feet and a good ball transfer. 85 mph from the outfield. Hits from a balanced stance with a short stride, hips explode and generate a fast bat with extension through contact, gap to gap type hitter. On the mound his fastball is 79-81 with heavy downhill plain. Curveball is 68-69 with early break. His delivery is short and quick from a ¾ arm angle.
Carter Lohman, LHP/OF, Hamilton SE HS, 2018: 6 foot, 160 pounds, 7.13/60. Tall, lanky LHP, Throws strikes from a high ¾ arm slot, 77-81 mph fastball with arm side run and some sink. Curveball is serviceable, 70-71 mph with gradual movement . At the plate he hits from a balanced stance with a short stride and very little load, contact type hitter. He is a good outfielder, has average hands, fluid feet and plays hard.
Chad Garisek, 3B/SS, Zionsville HS, 2017: 6 foot 1 inch, 195 pounds, 7.38/60, plays the game with passion and hustle. Hits from a balanced stance with a short stride, aggressive hitter with a fast bat and a slight upper cut, power/ pull type hitter. Throws from 3b are 78 mph with average carry with a short ¾ arm angle. Average hands with fluid feet and a good ball exchange.
Chase Dowell, RHP/3b, Crawfordsville HS, 2018: 5 foot 11 inches, 165 pounds, 7.29/60, Hits in a wide balanced stance and high knee load and stride, fast bat with a level path to the ball. Gap type hitter. Athletic third baseman with a ¾ arm slot, 76 mph across the infield with carry and on target, average hands and feet. On the mound his fastball is 74-76 with sink and in the strike zone. Serviceable curveball 59-62, has early break.
Christian Chapman, 1B/RHP, Fishers HS, 2016: 6 foot 3 inches, 210 pounds, 7.5/60, 79 mph across the infield from 1b to 3b, tall athletic player with short and easy arm action. Average hands and feet with a good ball exchange. He hits from a balanced stance with a short stride, hands are high and he has a fast bat with good extension through contact, gap to gap type hitter that will hit for power with added time in the weight room.
Conner Gentry, 1B/C, South Bend St Joe HS, 2016: 5 foot 11 inches, 190 pounds, 8.0/60, 2.12-2.28 pop time. Thick, athletic catcher that moves well behind the plate. Short ¾ arm, occasionally on target with average carry. Hits in a balanced stance and a long stride with a quick trigger, has a fast bat, line drive hitter with the ability to hit for power with added time in the weight room. On the mound he pitches to contact, fastball is 74-77 mph, curveball is 65-66.
Cooper Trinkle, MIF, Columbus North HS 2017: 5 foot 9 inches, 175 pounds, 7.09/60 Plus actions at SS and flashes the leather, has good hands and fluid feet with a smooth ball transfer, short arm, 83 mph with carry to 1b. With the bat he hits from an open stance with a short stride and a fast bat on a short level path to the ball. Contact hitter that makes adjustments to off speed pitches and sprays the ball.
Drew Lunsford, MIF, Homestead HS, 2016: 6 foot, 150 pounds, 7.0/60, Athletic frame with good actions. Long ¾ arm slot with the ability to throw from multiple angles, 75 mph across the infield with average carry and on target, he has average hands, fluid feet and a clean ball transfer. Contact hitter that hits in a wide balanced stance with as short stride, hips explode and generate a fast bat with a short path to the ball. Plays hard.
Garrison Smith , 1B/RHP, Mississinewa HS, 2017: 6 foot, 235 pounds, 8.72/60, Hits in a open stance with a short stride and his hands high. He will be a power threat with added strength. Throws 71 mph across the infield with average hands. On the mound his fastball was 70-72 mph, curveball was his best pitch, 64-66 mph with late break and in the zone. Competitive pitcher that comes at hitters with a ¾ arm slot.
Kyle Wade, SS/RHP, Kokomo HS, 2018: 6 foot 2 inches, 190 pounds, 7.42/60, Aggressive hitter that squares up pitches. Hits from a balanced stance with a short, smooth stride, fast bat speed with good extension through contact. At SS his arm is short and loose from multiple throwing angles. He has average hands with fluid feet and a clean ball transfer. On the mound his fastball is 77-79 mph with late sink and in the zone. Curveball is 64-69 mph. arm works easy.
Michael Brewer, OF/SS, Ft Wayne Snider HS, 2018: 5 foot 11 inches, 160 pounds, 6.95/60. Hit with wood from a balanced stance with a short, smooth stride. Very athletic player that will be able to play multiple positions. Outfield velocity was 81 mph, infield velocity 77 from a lower slot. He has average hands, quick feet and clean ball transfer.
Nathan Williams, OF, Hamilton SE HS, 2016: 6 foot, 180 pounds, 7.28/60, L/L , Throws 77 mph from the outfield with a short, low ¾ arm angle, average carry and on target. Average hands and fluid feet with a clean exchange. Hits from a balanced stance with a short stride and fast bat speed and a slight upper cut.
Nolan Young, MIF, Mississinewa HS, 2017: 5 foot 9 inches, 155 pounds, 7.32/60, Athletic player that throws 75 mph across the infield with a long arm and average carry. Average hands and fluid feet with a clean ball exchange. Hits in a balanced stance with a short stride and fast bat speed, line drive hitter that hits to all fields.
Taylor Faust, 3B/RHP, Roncalli HS, 2017: 6 foot, 178 pounds, 7.67/60, Athletic build, hits with his hands high and a balanced stance with a short stride, pull hitter that gets good extension through contact. Throws 69 mph across the infield with average hands and short ¾ arm slot. On the mound his fastball was 70-74 with downhill plain and in the zone, curveball was 60 mph with gradual break.
Tommy Sommers, LHP, Carmal HS, 2017: 6 foot 3 inches, 175 pounds, 7.92/60, Tall, lanky, LHP with a huge upside, Fastball is 78-80 mph and touches 82 mph from a ¾ slot. His delivery is quick and easy. Sweeping slider is 68-70. He throws both pitches for strikes. He is a good situational hitter that hits in a open stance with a short stride and fast bat speed.
Trent Johnson, MIF, Crawfordsville HS, 2017, 6 foot, 165 pounds, 7.40/60. Talks and thinks the game. Throws 78 mph across the infield with a long, high ¾ arm angle. Average hands with a good feel for his position. Spray hitter that hits with his hands low in a balanced stance and a short stride, fast bat speed on a short path to the ball.
Zach Tejchma, OF/MIF, Plainfield HS, 2016: 5 foot 8 inches, 145 pounds, 7.20/60, athletic player. 77 mph from the outfield with long arm action and average carry, he has average hands and fluid feet. Hits from a balanced stance with a short stride and quick hands through the zone.
