Q&A with Tulane Commit Kody Hoese

Kody Hoese, a 2016 shortstop out of Griffith High School, recently committed to Tulane. Hoese is currently ranked No. 11 in Indiana's class of 2016 rankings and was also a member of Team Indiana at this summers Future Games. The 6-foot-3, 165 pound Hoese is possesses athletic actions in the field with a strong arm at 84 across the diamond. Offensively, he consistently gets to extension with gap power. At the Future Games workout he registered an exit velocity of 91 mph and ran a 7.19-60.
PBR: Ultimately, why did you choose Tulane?
Hoese: I chose Tulane University because it offered me everything I was looking for academically and athletically with the baseball program.
PBR: Where did Tulane first see you compete?
Hoese: They first seen me this past July at the WWBA tournament in Georgia. The following week they came to watch me play at Grand Park in Westfield, IN.
PBR: When did you take your first visit to Tulane?
Hoese: I visited Tulane University the weekend of Sept. 13th.
PBR: What role do the coaches expect you to play when you first arrive on campus?
Hoese: The coaches expect me to compete and work hard for a starting position when I arrive in New Orleans.
PBR: What other schools were you considering?
Hoese: Purdue University, Indiana University, and University of Arkansas.
PBR: You played for Team Indiana at this year's Future Games, talk about your experience participating in that event.
Hoese: I had a lot of fun playing with the best players in Indiana and in front of all the college coaches. The event was an awesome experience for myself.
PBR: You play for the Indiana Bulls in the summer, describe your experience playing for them.
Hoese: Playing for the Indiana Bulls has allowed me to receive excellent coaching, compete against top level competition, and showcase my baseball skills to college coaches.
PBR: Who has had the biggest impact on you as a baseball player?
Hoese: My parents, along with my coaches Brian Jennings, Dave Griffin, Eric Blakeley, Sean Laird, and Dan Held.
PBR: What are your goals both personally and as a team this spring at Griffith?
Hoese: My personal goals are to continue to develop my overall baseball skills and our team goals would be to make a run at a state championship.
PBR: Who is the toughest pitcher you've faced in Indiana?
Hoese: Brandon Murray.
PBR: What is your most memorable baseball moment to date?
Hoese: Hitting my first high school home run this past season against Andrean.
