Director, PBR Indiana
Franklin Central's Ben Sprinkle recently committed to Kentucky Wesleyan. The 6-foot, 195 pound RHP attended last month's Unsigned Senior Showcase at Bishop Chatard HS. Sprinkle has been up to 82 mph with his fastball with a good split up to 72 mph.
Below, Sprinkle discusses his commitment to Kentucky Weslyean:
PBR: Ultimately, why did you choose Kentucky Wesleyan?
Sprinkle: I chose Kentucky Wesleyan because I really liked the coaches, they really made me feel comfortable and they want me to do well not only on the baseball field but also in the classroom.
PBR: Where did Kentucky Wesleyan first see you compete?
Sprinkle: They first saw me at the unsigned senior showcase hosted by PBR.
PBR: Were there any other schools you were considering?
Sprinkle: Yes, I was considering Earlham, Franklin, and Manchester.
PBR: Did your HS teammate Jimmy Yates committing to Kentucky Wesleyan impact your decision on committing there?
Sprinkle: Yes, but even if he would have chosen a different school Kentucky Wesleyan would still have been one of my top choices.
PBR: What do the coaches expect of you when you first arrive on campus?
Sprinkle: The coaches expect me to work hard and compete for playing time.
PBR: What are your goals this off-season?
Sprinkle: My goals are to get stronger and to add some velocity to my fastball.
PBR: Who do you play for in the summer, and how have they impacted you as a baseball player?
Sprinkle: I play for the Indiana Eagles and they helped me see really good competition as we played in a lot of big tournaments.
PBR: What are your goals next spring both individually and as a team?
Sprinkle: My individual goal is to contribute to my team as much as I can. Our team wants to repeat as Marion County Champs and we want to win the state championship which we think is very possible because of our very talented senior class.
PBR: Who has had the biggest impact on you as a baseball player?
Sprinkle: My parents and my grandparents have had the biggest impact on me as a baseball player, they have always been there to help me get better and they have always supported me.
PBR: What is your fondest memory to date as a baseball player?
Sprinkle: My two fondest memories is committing to KWC and winning the Marion County Tournament which has only been done three times in Franklin Central baseball history.
