Q&A with Evansville Commit Conner Hasecuster

Conner HasecusterShelbyville High School Junior shortstop Conner Hasecuster committed to Evansville this past week. The 6-foot-2, 180 pound Hasecuster played for Team Indiana in August's Future Games, and became the 12th player off the team to commit to a D1 school.  Hasecuster possesses athletic actions in the field with soft hands and fluid feet.  He has a strong arm across the diamond at 85 mph and runs a 7.15-60.  

PBR: Ultimately, why did you choose Evansville? 

Hasecuster: I chose Evansville because it’s a great education, I’ll have the opportunity to play as a freshman, and it’s close to home.

PBR: Where did Evansville first see you compete?

Hasecuster: The PBR Future Games.

PBR: When did you take your first visit to Evansville?

Hasecuster: November 1st of 2014.

PBR: What role do the coaches expect you to play when you first arrive on campus?

Hasecuster: They expect me to compete on the field and in the classroom and work my way to a starting role.

PBR: What other schools were you considering?

Hasecuster: Campbell and IU.

PBR: You played for Team Indiana in this summer's Future Games, talk about your experience playing in that event.

Hasecuster: It was awesome. I had a great time playing with the guys on Team Indiana! Met a lot of new guys that I’m now good friends with!

PBR: Who has had the biggest impact on you as a baseball player?

Hasecuster: Luke Williams and my two cousins Damon and Dylan.

PBR: You've played with the Indiana Prospects and now the Indiana Bulls, how has playing with those teams helped you develop as a baseball player?

Hasecuster: Both teams have helped me get to where I am today and I’m very thankful for the coaches I played for with the Prospects and now coach Held with the Bulls, very excited to be playing for him this summer.

PBR: What are you goals both individually and as a team this coming spring at Shelbyville?

Hasecuster: Individually is to help my team win HHC and a sectional. Team goals are to have a winning season and to win HHC and a sectional.

PBR: Who is the toughest pitcher you've faced in Indiana?

Hasecuster: The toughest pitcher I’ve faced in Indiana is Gage Rogers from Bloomington North.

PBR: What is your most memorable baseball moment to date?

Hasecuster: My most memorable moment was last season hitting a 2 run homerun in the conference championship to put us up by 1 and Austin Peugh closing the game out and I tackling him starting the dog pile.

PBR: What were your stats last spring at Shelbyville?

Hasecuster: 312 BA .402 OBP .494 Slugging 7 SB .929 Fielding
