Q&A with 2016 Iowa Commit: Justin Jenkins, Terre Haute South

Terre Haute South Junior outfielder Justin Jenkins recently committed to the University of Iowa and Head Coach Rick Heller. Jenkins, ranked 35th in the 2016 class, is a talented athlete with athletic actions in the field. The left handed hitter consistently produces line drives and has the ability to hit for a high average.
PBR: Ultimately, why did you choose Iowa?
Jenkins: Iowa, in my opinion, was the best opportunity to be successful athletically and academically.
PBR: When did you take your first up to the Hawkeye State?
Jenkins: Last spring for a baseball game and again this fall for a football game.
PBR: Where did the Iowa coaches first see you compete?
Jenkins: During high school season my freshman year.
PBR: What do the coaches expect from you when you first arrive on campus?
Jenkins: To compete for a starting position.
PBR: Were there any other schools you were considering?
Jenkins: Purdue and Indiana State.
PBR: You play for the Indiana Bulls in the summer, describe your experience playing with them.
Jenkins: Playing for the Bulls is a once in a lifetime opportunity and I wouldn't spend my summer any other way or with any other team.
PBR: Now that you've committed, what are your goals going forward as a HS player?
Jenkins: To continue progressively getting better.
PBR: Who has had the biggest impact on you as a baseball player?
Jenkins: My father who coaches college baseball at Rose Hulman Institute of Technology.
PBR: What were your stats last spring at Terre Haute South?
Jenkins: I hit .391 with 25 RBI's.
