Q&A with 2015 Olney Central Commit; Dillon Lagenour, Evansville North HS

By Phil Wade

Indiana Executive Director

Evansville North High School senior outfielder, Dillon Lagenour, recently committed to Olney Central College in Olney, Illinois.  Below he answers a few questions regarding his commitment to the Blue Knights.

PBR: Ultimately, why did you choose Olney Central?

Lagenour: Olney believed in me and they have a long baseball history.

PBR: Where did the Olney coaches first see you compete?

Lagenour: They first saw me at a USI (Southern Indiana) showcase and then had an invite to an Olney showcase.

PBR: When did you take your first official visit to Olney?

Lagenour: Aug. 16th, 2014.

PBR: What role do the coaches expect you to play when you arrive on campus?

Lagenour: To play left field and to be a leader on the team.

PBR: Who do you play for in the summer, and how has playing for them impacted your baseball career?

Lagenour: Evansville Eugene Pate and played for Planet Baseball in Costa Rica. It has bonded us as a team, and made me a better all-around baseball player.

PBR: Who has had the biggest impact on you as a baseball player?

Lagenour: I had a freshman coach in high school that told me I would never make it to the next level in baseball. This gave me the drive to be the best player I could be. For my overall coach that has impacted me, I would have to say Jeremy Jones, my North Huskies H.S. and Pate coach.

PBR: Who is the toughest pitcher you've faced in Indiana?

Lagenour: Dillon Whitten.

PBR: Heading into your final season as a HS player, what are your goals both personally and as a team?

Lagenour: To have a better batting average than last year, earn all Metro-player again, beat the H.S. doubles record, and as for a team player, being more of a leader; team captain, leading our team to winning a sectional.

PBR: What is your most memorable moment as a baseball player to date?

Lagenour: My first homerun when I was 10. My parents, brother, and both grandparents were there to see.
