As we prepare for our 2014 high school preseason coverage, we are going to take a quick glance at teams from across the state.

OUTLOOK: 

Head Coach Bobby Wong and the Lowell Red Devils finished the 2013 campaign with an 11-15 overall record and were a disappointing 2-10 in conference play.  Despite the struggles of last year, the Red Devils will bring back a lot of experience this spring with nine starters and three pitchers returning.  Coach Wong's squad will be led by Myles Siedentopf, a 5-foot-10, 200 pound junior RHP/3B.  Siedentopf finished last season hitting .373 with 9 2B and 24 RBI.  On the mound in 33 IP he finished with a 2-2 record , 39 Ks, and a 2.3 ERA.  Another junior, Josh Arnold, will also be a key contributor on the mound.  The lefty pitched in 44 innings last season, finishing with a 2.5 ERA and 24 Ks.  Two seniors are expected to contribute heavily this spring; 1B Jordan Hansen who's committed to Tiffin University, and OF Logan Schiessle. Schiessle hit .310 with 5 2B and 12 RBI in 2013.  Coach Wong will be looking for sophomore OF, Darion Hornickel, to make an impact this season both at the plate and in the field.  The 5-foot-9, 170 pound sophomore runs the bases well and has good overall baseball instincts.  Look for the Red Devils experience to lead them to more wins this spring and a significantly better conference record.
