Today’s unsigned senior spotlight is on Troy Dykhuis, a right handed pitcher and 2013 graduate of St. Charles East HS. We’ve recently seen Dykhuis at the Unsigned Senior Showcase in October where he was one of the top ten right handed pitchers at the event. He is currently ranked No. 164 in the Class of 2013 and is one of the better arms still on the market.
Dykhuis is a strong 6-foot-2, 215-pound right handed pitcher who operates from a ¾ arm action with easy effort. Dykhuis shows solid feel for three pitches, commanding the zone with a fastball, curveball and changeup. His delivery is extremely balanced and repeatable and shows signs of producing more velocity as he gets stronger.
His fastball features some heavy feel sitting at 83-86 mph while flashing 88 mph, he shows above average command for the pitch as well. Dykhuis also throws a curveball that works on an 11/5 plane showing sharp action and feel for the pitch at 69-71 mph. His changeup also shows run and sink to his arm side while being clocked at 76-77 mph. His changeup has a chance to be a plus pitch for him as he throws it with fastball arm action and tempo.
Dykhuis should be a highly coveted arm heading into his senior year, as one of the few arms available that shows polish and feel for three pitches.
