The January Unsigned Senior Showcase is less than a week away and one of the most recent registrations is LHP Danny Janowski. During his junior year Janowski transferred from T.F. South to Marian Catholic, making this his first season playing for the Spartans.
Janowski is a lanky, athletic 6-foot-5, 210-pound left handed pitcher with a lot of projectability. On the mound, Janowski works out of a high 3/4 arm slot from the left side producing a low to mid 80s fastball that we have seen top out at 86 mph. He also showcases a sweeping curveball at 76-77 mph along with a change-up that we have seen up to 78-82 mph. Janowski has the frame and tools to be a solid prospect at the next level.
Janowski is currently ranked No. 186 in Illinois and has flashed the tools to be a much higher prospect.
According to Janowski, he made a few visits this fall and summer which included Purdue University.
"There are two things that are important to me in choosing a school, one, is a school with a good zoology program and/or field and equally as important to me is the baseball program, more specifically, coaches that help me grow and develop as a player," he said.
Janowski carries a 3.5 GPA and posted a 23 on his ACT.
We haven’t seen the lanky southpaw since the summer and eager to see how he performs at the Unsigned Senior Showcase. With a fastball that topped out at 86 mph in October of 2012 the ceiling for Janowski is extremely high.
