Today’s unsigned senior spotlight is on Alex Shake. Shake is a left handed pitcher from Canton HS who we recently saw at our Unsigned Senior Showcase in January.
Shake is an interesting 6-foot-3, 200-pound left-hander. He has a long, loose arm action, coming from a ¾ arm slot. His delivery shows solid balance throughout, keeping his upper half closed while landing square and finishing athletically. Shake works across his body, which created significant arm-side run on his 83-84 mph fastball. Shake showed the ability to throw four pitches in the zone. His curveball shows 11/5 shape flashing sharp action in the 66 mph range. The pitch demonstrated two-plane action. His changeup flashed sink at 75-76 mph while repeating a similar delivery to that of his fastball. Shake also threw a 67-68 mph knuckleball.
Shake undoubtedly improved his stock in January showing his easy delivery of a 83-84 mph fastball from the left side. His effortless delivery projects him well as we see room in his body to fill out, in turn gaining extra velocity.
