The Hotlist: Rising Juniors Of Note
July 2, 2014
By Nathan Rode and PBR Staff
Last week, we presented a list of rising seniors that had stood out in early summer events, all of which remain uncommitted. For this week’s Hotlist, we go a year younger and highlight a group of rising juniors that have made an impression. Just one is currently committed.
Austin Bergner, RHP/SS, Windermere Prep, FL
Bergner is one of the top juniors in the country and likely already has some big college programs knocking on his door. One of a handful of underclassmen at the Tournament of Stars, he jumped out immediately with his long, athletic frame at 6-foot-3, 170 pounds. Everything he does looks easy. He has loose actions in the field and an easy delivery on the mound. At the plate, he has a tall, relaxed set-up and solid bat speed. On the mound, he can sit in the 90-92 range with projectable secondary stuff.
