Costanzo emerged as one of Illinois’ top lefties last fall, pitching from a three-quarter arm slot with looseness and ease. He has movement to everything he offers and his fastball was sitting 84-85 mph, touching 87 at the time. He also mixed in a cutter and curveball. In November 2012, Constanzo pitched at the Class of 2014 Showcase and sat 87-88 with hard, late life to his arm-side. His curveball was 72-75 with two-plane action and had the potential to be a swing-and-miss pitch.

He was named to Prep Baseball Report’s third team all-state after serving as St. Rita’s workhorse as a junior. He struck out 96 and finished with a 9-3 record while pitching five complete games. His three losses came against teams that ultimately won league or state championships. This will be his second appearance at the Super 60 after participating in the 2013 event.
