Today’s stock report is on General McArthur, no, not the Medal of Honor recipient war hero that you read about in your history books, but the slick-fielding shortstop from Crete-Monee HS. This 2015 graduate will not only grab your attention with his unique name, but once you see him pick a few ground balls his glove will do the talking from there.
McArthur is a long, lanky shortstop who shows advanced actions in the infield. At 6-foot, 140-pounds, McArthur’s ceiling is high. The slender shortstop’s frame has plenty of room to fill out and with added strength could be a highly sought after prospect. McArthur showed expansive range both to his left and right, displaying soft hands with a quick clean transfer. He also possesses a strong arm that shows carry and accuracy at 78 mph.
As the No. 39 ranked player in the Class of 2014, McArthur shows well at the plate as well. Offensively, he hits out of a balanced setup using a short stride. He shows solid hands at the plate, consistently working the middle of the field with a line drive approach. McArthur’s easy swing and quiet approach will advance quickly with added strength as he matures.
General McArthur’s name will surely catch your eye on a scorecard or roster, but once you see him play his game will make a name all for itself.
