By Ryan Quigley
Area Scout

At one point through the first and third innings the 6-foot, 165-pound junior lefty struck out six consecutive Steelmen hitters, mostly on a tailing fastball that proved difficult to catch up with all day. Talarico improves to 3-2 on the year with a miniscule 1.46 ERA, and 52 strikeouts in 38.1 innings pitched.
West was led offensively by junior shortstop Cody Grosse, who was 1-for-2 on the day with a double, two walks, three runs scored, and two-RBI. Grosse’s 2-strike RBI double in the fourth gave the Tigers a 5-0 cushion and all they would need.

Marist made things very uncomfortable for the Caravan fandom when after two outs Chris Meehan singled to center and Ryan Kairos walked. Barrett Callaghan walked to load the bases full of Redhawks. Caravan closer Scott Kapers was brought in to put out the fire. On the first pitch, Redhawk John Carmody hit a topper back to Kapers, who fired a strike to the plate to get the force and end this thriller.
