No. 20 Springfield Sacred Heart-Griffin 6, Lincoln 0
The Cyclones coasted to the CS8 win in Lincoln behind Ben McElwee (1-0) and Justin Zanger. McElwee fired five shutout innings allowing one hit with 10 strikeouts to pick up the win on the mound. Trevor Turley fired a pair of scoreless innings allowing a hit with two strikeouts to finish the combined two-hit shutout. Justin Zanger singled, doubled and plated a pair for SHG (3-1, 1-0). Notre Dame-bound Cole Daily singled, doubled and had one RBI for the Cyclones.
Chatham Glenwood 10, Jacksonville 0 (6 innings)
Chatham Glenwood (1-0,1-0) smashed the Crimson (2-2, 0-1), behind a one-hit shutout from senior Nick Maton (1-0). Maton struck out 11 and walked one in his masterpiece on Wednesday. Matt Skedari was 3-for-3 for the Titans with a double, three runs scored and an RBI for Glenwood. Jake Ryan and Andy Banaiatis each singled and plated a pair of Titan runs.
Springfield SE 10. Decatur Eisenhower 9
Springfield SE (1-1, 1-1), crushed Ike behind Nate Welch (1-0), who was 3-for-3 with three doubles and six RBI. Welch can pitch too as evidenced by a one-hit shutout, with eight strikeouts for SE. Anthony Clark added three hits, including a pair of doubles for the Spartans with two RBI. Decatur Eisenhower falls to 1-3 overall and 1-1 in the CS8.

No. 8 Edwardsville 14, Greenville 0
Edwardsville (2-0) crushed Greenville in five innings at Tom Pile Field in Edwardsville behind a combined no-no from Aaron Jackson (1-0) and Trey Riley. Jackson fired four no-hit innings with six strikeouts to pick up the win. Riley struck out the side in the Greenville fifth to wrap up the Tiger win. Brock Weimer went 2-for-2 with a homer and an RBI for the Tigers.
No. 10 Nazareth Academy 8, Immaculate Conception 0
The Roadrunners improved to 3-0 behind Donald Kelly. Kelly (1-0) fired four shutout innings allowing one hit with seven strikeouts to pick up the win on the mound. Brandon Bossard had two doubles and two runs scored for the Roadrunners. Carson Bartels had a perfect 2-for-2 day at the plate.
No. 13 Prairie Ridge 4, Palatine 2
Trailing 2-0 in the top of the sixth in Palatine, things looked bleak for the 13th-ranked Wolves. In the top of the sixth, the Wolves followed the old adage, ”take two and go to Right”. BYU-bound Dustin Thelander drove home the first Wolve run on an RBI single to right. Matt Mohapp’s two-run triple to right, gave PR the lead 3-2 and Jake Carpentier extended the Wolves lead to 4-2 with an RBI single to right. Alec Thune picked up the win on the mound for Prairie Ridge (2-1) allowing a run and three hits in his 2.2 innings of relief, with six strikeouts. Mohapp fired a 1-2-3 seventh to nail down the save.
No. 16 Alton 12, Cahokia 2
Alton (4-0) routed the Comanches behind a combined no-no from Ben Cusac (2-0), Sam Ballard and Jacob St. Peters. Cusak and Ballard had seven punchouts each in their two innings of work on the mound. Jake Kanallakan drove home runs number nine and ten of the 2015 season, while Bryan Hudson tripled home a pair for the Redbirds. Steve Pattan chipped in with a perfect 2-for 2-day with two RBI.
No. 18 Brother Rice 8, Oak Forest 0
Brother Rice (2-1) blanked the Bengals behind Jack Nelligan (1-0) who fired five no-hit innings at the Bengals with five strikeouts to pick up the win. University of Indianapolis-bound Mike Schalasky doubled, homered and drove in four Crusader runs to lead Brother Rice to victory. Junior Andy Dyke also homered, scored two runs and drove home two for the Crusaders.
No. 22 Jacobs 5, Harrisburg 4
Jacobs (5-1) slipped past Harrisburg (1-4) in a five inning game in Marion Wednesday night. Tyler Jones fired a two-hitter at the Bulldogs with five strikeouts to pick up the win on the mound. Ohio University-bound Ryan Sargent had a single and an RBI for the Golden Eagles.
No. 33 Prospect 6, Rosemount (MN) 3
Prospect (4-1) spotted its Paul Bunyan State foes a 3-0 lead after one-half inning and then roared past to an easy win in Tampa, Florida on Wednesday night. Jake Caviani was 2-for-2 with a triple and an RBI while Pat Donohue had two singles, two runs scored and an RBI for the victorious Knights. Nick Donzelli settled down after a rough first inning and shut out Rosemount over the next four innings to pick up the win on the mound.
No. 35 Grayslake Central 8, Southridge (GA) 2
Grayslake Central (2-1) rolled past Southridge at Disneyland in Orlando, Florida late Tuesday night. Jeff Terronez went 2-for-2 with three RBI. Jay Hofman chipped in with two singles and a pair of RBI.
No. 35 Grayslake Central 5, Haverford 1
Grayslake Central (3-1) rolled out to a 5-0 lead after two innings and rolled to a Disneyland victory on Wednesday. David Llorens allowed one run and one hit in his solid five innings of work to pick up the win on the mound. Sam Ruhlman doubled and had two RBI while Tony Fitzgerald went 2-for-2 with an RBI for the Rams.
No. 37 Mundelein 7, Granite City 0
Mundelein (5-0) smashed the Warriors at Rent One Park in Marion behind red-hot Luke Peterson who went 2-for-2 with a double and two RBI. Reese Dolan tripled and plated a pair of Mustang runs while Cooper Michalski had three hits, including a double for the Mustangs. Brendan Murphy fired five shutout innings, allowing just three hits to pick up the win on the mound.
No. 43 St. Joseph-Ogden 12, Bismark-Henning 1
SJ-O (4-1) crushed B-H behind Ty Brown who was 3-for-3 for the Spartans with a double and three RBI. Tyler Haake (2-0) allowed a run and two hits in four innings to pick up the win on the mound with eight punchouts.
Bartonville Limestone 1, Normal Community 0
Bartonville Limestone (2-0) slipped past the Ironmen in Normal on Wednesday. Calvin Peacock (1-0) and Bryce Meyer combined on the three-hit shutout. Peacock allowed two hits in his 5.2 scoreless inning stint. Meyer gave up one hit in his 1.2 scoreless innings of relief to pick up the save.
Benton 7, Hamilton County 2
Benton (4-1) rolled past HamCo behind Cole Richardson and Dakota Head. Richardson had two singles and two RBI for the Rangers while Head had three hits, scored two and drove home one. Derek Oxford chipped in with three singles. Levi Pearce fired 6.2 scoreless innings allowing seven hits and striking out four to pick up the win.
Coal City 14, Pontiac 3
Coal City (1-0) crushed the Indians in Pontiac in the season-opener for the Coalers. The Coalers scored eight times in the top of the fifth to trigger the ten-run rule.
Crystal Lake South 6, Zion Benton 3
In a Miner Classic game in Marion, the Gators spotted the Z-B’s a 3-0 first inning lead and then rolled to the Miner Classic victory. Crystal Lake South (2-1) scored a run in the second and three more in the third and went on to victory behind Mike Avella and Dakota Siwula. Avella had two singles, scored a run and had an RBI; while Siwula had two hits, including a double and plated and scored a Gator run. Ryan Wilkening allowed three runs and six hits in five innings to pick up the win on the mound.
Crystal Lake South 12, Carbondale 4
Crystal Lake South (3-1) hit the Terriers with a seven-run sixth inning to wrap up the Gators third win of the season. Garrett Bright continued his torrid hitting with two singles, a double and four RBI for the Gators. John Constantino chipped in with a pair of singles and two RBI.
Dundee-Crown 11, Quincy 1
Dundee-Crown (3-0) swept away the Blue Devils in Quincy behind Nick Musielewicz and Michael Cruise. Musielewicz had four singles, two runs scored and plated four Charger runs. Cruise singled, doubled and had four RBI for D-C. Jared Ludwig allowed a run and four hits in his six solid innings on the mound to pick up the victory.
Elk Grove 10, Deerfield 2
The Grenadiers (1-2) picked up their first win of 2015 behind Matt Weary and Sean Fege. Both Wary and Wege had two singles and two RBI to lead the Elk Grove attack. Grenadier ace Christian Camacho evened up his record at 1-1 on the season, allowing just one earned run and four hits to pick up the win on the mound.
Lakes 3, Troy-Triad 0
Lakes (1-1-1) blanked the Knights behind a two-hit shutout from Chase Slota (1-0). Slota fanned seven and walked four in his complete-game masterpiece. Liam Fitzpatrick had two singles and an RBI while Ben Milewski chipped in with a single and an RBI for the Eagles.
Libertyville 10, Palatine 0
Libertyville (3-0) walloped the Pirates behind Jimmy Govern who singled, doubled and plated three Wildcat runs while Chase Patterson chipped in with a single and two RBI for the Wildcats.
Loyola 9, Highland Park 3 ( 8 innings)
Loyola (3-0) exploded for six runs in the top of the eighth to stun Highland Park (0-3) in the Ramblers season-opener at Wolters Field in Highland Park.
Princeville 10, Knoxville 0
The Princes rolled to their fourth consecutive victory to open up the 2015 campaign behind a brilliant three-hit shutout from Cole Hartley (2-0). Hartley fanned six and did not walk a batter. UW Stout-bound Zach Simmons, hammered a two-run bomb while Brett Down had two singles and plated three Prince runs. Bradley-bound Mitch Janssen chipped in with three hits, including a double.
Warren 8, Harrisburg 5 (8 innings)
Warren (4-2) rallied past the Bulldogs in Harrisburg, on Wednesday. In the top of the eighth, Andrew Hill’s bunt single plated the lead run for Warren, followed by a Chris Mathieu sac-fly for a 7-5 Blue Devil lead. Ryan Davilla’s clutch RBI single made it 8-5 Warren. Scottie Gordon finished off Harrisburg, in the bottom of the eighth to pick up the win on the mound for the Blue Devils.
Warren 4, No. 22 Cary-Grove 1
Warren (5-2) wrapped up a successful Deep South spring trip with a solid win over the 24th-ranked Trojans (3-2-1) at Rent Park in Marion on Wednesday night. Ryan Davila allowed no earned runs and just two hits with eight punchouts in his six-inning masterpiece. Andy Hill went deep and had three hits and three RBI to lead the Blue Devil attack.
