Rhode struck out the side in the bottom of the seventh, to pick up his 11th save of the season.
NORMAL
The defending Class 4A state champions from Providence (29-11), took the meaning of the old slogan, “take one for the team”, to another level in the Celtics 4-3 win over O’Fallon (29-10). With the game tied at 3 in the top of the seventh, Jackson Dvorak, Tom Kelley, Matt Diehl and Mike Madej, were all consecutively plunked by O’Fallon pitchers. Madej’s plunking drove home Dvorak, with the eventual game-winner for the Celtics. Justin Hunniford mowed down the Panthers 1-2-3 in the bottom of the seventh, to complete his 1.2 scoreless innings of relief to pick up the win. See Ryan Quigley’s game story for complete coverage.
SCHAUMBURG
Oak Park (31-7) defeated Glenbard North 7-5 behind Ryan Fish. Trailing 5-4 in the sixth, Fish tripled with the bases full of Huskie teammates, for the super-sectional game-winner. Chris Atwood picked up the win on the mound for the Huskies

AUGUSTANA
St. Francis (26-9) behind a Jason Sullivan 2-hit shutout, ousted Metamora 3-0. Sullivan fanned seven Redbird batters and did not walk a batter. Sullivan added a pair of singles and drove home the only run he would need.
SAUGET
Highland (26-13) rallied past Champaign Centennial 3-2 behind Andrew Winning’s game-winning two-run bomb in the bottom of the sixth. Champaign Centennial held a 2-0 lead as the contest moved to the bottom of the sixth. The first two Bulldog batters were retired before Cody Bentiage tripled over the Charger center fielders’s head. Bentiage scored on a Charger miscue off the bat of Grant Geppert to make the score 2-1. Winning stepped into the batter’s box and delivered his two-run winning blast. Tyler Kimmie fired his second scoreless inning of relief to pick up the win. Champaign Central bows out at 29-9.
