When RHP Liam Jenkins (Lincoln-Way North HS, IL) was a sophomore, his mother joked that she could actually see him physically growing. Now 6-foot-8, 235 pounds, Jenkins stood at 5-foot-9 as a rising freshman. By the following fall, he was 6-foot-4. But height was expected with a father that stands 6-foot-5 and a 6-foot mother.
“It's a little hereditary,” Jenkins said laughing.
Baseball isn’t new to Jenkins, but his status as a prospect is a far cry from where it was two years ago. In September 2012, Jenkins was 6-foot-4, 190 pounds, with a fastball that topped out at 78 mph. As he grew, so did his heater. A few months later, Jenkins stood 6-foot-6, 210 pounds, with a low-80s fastball that occasionally scraped 84-85.
