CHICAGO, IL - In the first of two Chicago Public League semi-final match-up Morgan Park ran their way to a 3-1 victory over Clemente. James Davison (2014) stole the show with his feet. After getting hit with the first pitch he saw, the fleet footed outfielder proceeded to steal second and third. Standing at third with nobody out Clemente starter Joey Marciano (2013) would strike out the next two batters. Davison then used his speed again to take advantage of a passed ball that barely trickled off the dirt, scoring the first run of the ballgame.
Marciano and Morgan Park starter Marcellous Sneed both battled tough as runs were hard to come by. Marciano, a John A. Logan commit struck out seven in the losing effort scattering just five hits. Sneed was just as impressive striking out nine and surrendering just two hits, both to Mizraim Fuentes (2014).
Davison was at it again in the third after reaching base on a swinging bunt down the third base line. The pesky baserunner drew a number of pick-off throw before Marciano ended up balking him to second, two pitches later Davison swiped third and after the ball trickled into the outfield Davison scored before anybody knew what happened. He would finish the game 1-for-2 with two runs scored and three stolen bases.
Clemente threatened in the seventh trailing just 3-1 with two runners on and one out. However a sac fly that turned into a double play nailing the trailing runner ended the game and sent Morgan park to the championship game tomorrow.
