Evaluation: 8/7/16- 6-foot, 195-pound left-handed hitting catcher. Balanced stance, easy load and stride, quiet head, long through zone, shows solid pop in bat, ability to use whole field, 89 mph exit velocity. Shows above avg. arm strength and carry to bag with accuracy, solid direction with feet, stays down and through on throws, 76 mph arm with 2.00-2.12 pop times. Quiet receiver with good flexibility behind dish, blocks well, good mobility for size.
PBR: What schools have you been hearing from?
HACKMAN: North Dakota State University, South Dakota State University, Augustana University, Minnesota State University, Upper Iowa University, Wartburg College and Gustavus Adolphus College have all expressed interest, along with other various DIII and JUCO programs.
PBR: Have you taken any visits? Do you have any scheduled in the near future?
HACKMAN: I have been to Augustana University, Minnesota State University and Wartburg College. I plan on visiting South Dakota State University, Upper Iowa, and plan on making another campus visit to Augustana University and Minnesota State University when students are on campus.
PBR: Are you looking for anything in particular in a school?
HACKMAN: I am looking for a school with high academics in the fields of Engineering and Computer Science.
PBR: What were some of the highlights of your junior year?
HACKMAN: The biggest highlight of my junior year was Johnston making the State Tournament and playing at Principal Park. Other highlights include making Second Team All-State, First Team All-District (North Central Iowa), and Second Team All-Western Division.
PBR: What are your goals for this year?
HACKMAN: I hope to continue with my high academics and finish my senior year with a 4.0 GPA. Another goal is for Johnston's Baseball team to make it back to the State Tournament and hopefully win the 4A State Championship. In addition, I hope to find a college with strong academics and a competitive baseball program that would be a good fit for me.
PBR: Do you play any other sports?
HACKMAN: No, I do not play any other sports.
PBR: GPA/ACT/SAT?
HACKMAN: I have a 4.0 GPA and a 31 on the ACT.
