Evaluation: 3/13/16- 5-foot-11, 155-pound right-handed hitting shortstop. 7.00 runner. Lean projectable build with long levers. Short leg kick trigger into stride. Inconsistent lower half. Shows good hands at plate- fights high back elbow occasionally. Flashes above avg. pop in bat with gap to gap approach. 77 mph exit velocity. Shows athleticism in field with some raw tendencies that should improve as he matures and develops. Tends to field on heels and funnel baseball in. Shows better hands and feet when on the run using athleticism. Accurate arm to bag with 75 mph arm strength.
PBR: Why did you choose Southeastern CC?
ZURITA: Because I loved the coaching staff and it's a good fit for me.
PBR: What other schools were you considering?
ZURITA: Iowa Central, NIACC, and Iowa Western.
PBR: Where did the coaching staff first see you? How did your relationship develop with them?
ZURITA: At a high school game when I was a Freshman and he came up and talked to me after the game and we just kept in contact ever since.
PBR: Do you feel relieved now that the process is over and you can just focus on baseball and not deal with everything that goes into picking a school?
ZURITA: Yes because now I can just focus on my game and school work.
PBR: Was there one deciding factor that put your choice over the top?
ZURITA: The coaching staff, the players, and what they offered me.
PBR: Who has helped you the most to get to where you are today?
ZURITA: My Parents and my Grandpa.
PBR: What were your expectations about the recruiting process? Was it easy/difficult?
ZURITA: It was easy for me because I did a lot of showcases and knew coaches.
PBR: What plans does the coaching staff have in store for you in your freshman season?
ZURITA: To work hard over fall ball and winter and hopefully get a spot to play.
PBR: What is your most memorable baseball moment to date?
ZURITA: Making it to the district final and earning All-District and All-Hawkeye recognition.
PBR: Who is the best player that you have competed against?
ZURITA: Johnny Swanda from Des Moines Roosevelt.
