University Christian defeats Trinity in pitchers duel

First Inning:  UC went in order, with lead off (Bishop) grounding out to third (Crawford to Fripp), second hitter strike out (Brown) and third hitter (Gau) fly out to left (Nugent).  No one left on base.

Trinity first batter (Martin) gounded out to second (Ruiz to Pate), second (Williamson) and third (Fripp) batter were walked, fourth batter (Broughton) strikes out with runner (Aman, courtesy running for Williamson) thrown out trying to steal third on 3-2 count (Boyette to Conner Johnson) .  Base runner left at second. (Fripp)

 

 

Second Inning:  UC went in order again, with three infield ground outs.  Miller to first (Fripp), Conner Johnson to second (Martin to Fripp), and Gill to second (Martin to Fripp).  No one left on base

Trinity lead off hit fly ball (Nugent) to left field that was dropped for UC error (Brooks).  Runner (Nugent) was sacrificed by second hitter (Flowers) to second with bunt to pitcher (Gau to Pate), then stole third on next pitch to third batter of inning (Crawford).  Gau for UC then struck out next two batters on six straight pitches (Crawford and Layton) looking.  Base runner left at third. Third Inning:  UC lead off (Boyette) was hit by pitch (Courtesy runner Richman for Boyette).  Richman was sacrificed to second by Ruiz.  Third hitter of inning (Pate) flied out to deep left center that advanced Richman to third.  Last hitter of inning (Bishop) grounded out to pitcher to end inning.  Base runner left at third. Trinity lead off struck out (Acosta).  Second hitter (Martin) flied out to center field (Bishop). Third hitter (Williamson) walked (Courtesy runner Aman).  Aman stole second with count 1-1 to Fripp, then stole third with count 2-1.  Fripp struck out swinging with 2-2 count.  Base runner left at third. Fourth Inning:  UC lead off (Brown) reached on error on first base (Fripp) on a very high infield pop up.  Second hitter (Gau) struck out looking.  Third batter (Miller) line drive double down right field baseline (Acosta), Brown advanced to third.  Fourth batter (C. Johnson) grounded into fielders choice to short with Brown being thrown out at home (Broughton to Williamson) and Miller advancing to third.  Two outs.  On 2-1 count to Gill, Miller scored on wild pitch to make score UC - 1, Trinity - 0.  Johnson advanced to second.  Gill was then hit by pitch to put runners on first and second.  Next hitter (Boyette) hit ground ball to left field on 3-2 count.  Johnson was thrown out at third after trying to advance home by Williamson to Crawford.  Base runners left at first and second. Trinity lead off (Broughton) struck out looking, second hitter (Nugent) grounded out to third (C. Johson to Pate), third batter (Flowers) struck out swinging.  No one left on base.

 

 

Fifth Inning:  UC lead off (Ruiz) struck out looking, second batter (Pate) struck out looking, third hitter (Bishop) was hit by pitch.  Bishop advanced to second and third on two wild pitches to hitter (Brown).  Brown walked, runners on first and third with two outs.  Gau flied out to center field (Flowers) to end inning.  Base runners left on first and third. Trinity lead off (Crawford) struck out looking.  Second hitter (Layton) struck out swinging.  Third batter (Wilson) walked, fourth batter (Martin) singled to center (Bishop).  This was Trinity's first hit.  Fifth hitter (Williamson) walked. (Aman courtesy runner for Williamson).  UC changed pitchers from Gau to Peel.  Fifth batter (Fripp) struck out swinging on 2-2 count.  Base runners left at first, second and third. Sixth Inning:  Trinity pitching change from Aspinwall to Ragland to start inning.  UC lead off (Miller) out at first on dropped third strike (Williamson to Fripp).  Second batter (C. Johson) infield single to third base (Crawford), third batter (Gill) grounded into 4-6-3 double play.  No base runners left.

Trinity lead off (Broughton) flied out to left field, second hitter (Nugent) walked (Yeager pinch runner for Nugent), Yeager advanced to second on wild pitch.  Third hitter (Flowers) struck out looking.  Fourth Hitter (Crawford) walked and then fifth hitter (Layton) flied out to center field (Gau).  Base runner left on second.  (Yeager)

 

 

Seventh Inning:  UC lead off (Boyette) struck out swinging, second hitter (Tyler Johnson) pinch hit for Ruiz and struck out swinging.  Third hitter (Pate) walked.  He advanced to second on wild pitch on 1-1 count to Bishop.  Fourth batter (Bishop) singled on line drive to center field (Flowers) with Pate advancing to third.  Runners on first and third with two outs.  Bishop advanced to second on pitch in dirt with Brown batting.  Brown struck out.  Base runners left at second and third. Trinity lead off (Wilson) out at first after dropped third strike (Boyette to Pate).  Second hitter (Martin) grounded out to shortstop (Miller to Pate).  Third hitter (Williamson) struck out swinging on 3-2 count.  No one left on base.
