WINTER GARDEN--The Central Florida Slam spring break tournament opened today with a host of quality teams. None more impressive than IMG Academy. IMG's roster of 20 players consist of 15 committed players to Division 1 colleges. In game one today against Miami Palmetto HS, it was all IMG. 2016 LHP Jason Groome who has committed to play at Vanderbilt and may also be a first round pick in next years MLB draft, started todays game and was dominant from the first pitch to the last. He threw a complete game shutout with 19 strikeouts and only giving up one hit.
He didn't need much help but got plenty. 2015 OF Eric Feliz and Notre Dame commit, lead the way with a 2 run home run to center field and made a lot of hard contact. 2015 SS LT Tolbert and South Carolina commit had a single and a double. 2016 C Grant Horwitz hit a double of the right center field wall and is an uncommitted junior.
Final score: IMG Academy 8, Miami Palmetto 0
