Bloomingdale used an all-around team effort with flawless defense, great pitching, and timely hitting to beat Sickles 8-1. On the mound the Bulls were led by 2015 RHP and Florida State Signee Logan Crouse who went six innings and only had one earned run with no walks and eight strikeouts. Logan’s younger brother Carson Crouse (2016 RHP) closed out the game allowing no base runners and striking out two. At the plate, 2017 OF/P Nate Chevalier had a two-RBI single, 2015 OF Doug Sandberg went 2-3 with an RBI, and 2015 OF/P Conrado Skepple went 1-2 with a sac fly and two RBI’s.
Sickles scored their only run in the top of the first when 2016 Jon Oddson led off with a single, and after a couple of bunts, scored on a passed ball. After a scoreless second and Crouse settled in, Chevalier delivered his singled that scored two and gave the Bulls their first lead that they would not give up.
Bloomingdale added three more in the fourth when Crouse helped himself and doubled deep to center and later scored on a wild pitch. The other two runs came from RBI singles off the bats of Skepple and Sandberg. The Gryphons led off the fifth with a double but could not capitalize and left the runner stranded. In the bottom half, 2017 INF Cody Wilson had an RBI single, Crouse scored on a wild pitch, and Skepple drove in a run on a sac fly.
An 8-1 lead was plenty for the Bulls as Logan Crouse shut the door in sixth and younger brother Carson closed out the game in 1-2-3 fashion to give Bloomingdale the win.
