Alonso Cruises Past Brandon 10-4

TAMPA – In what was supposed to be a low scoring pitchers’ duel between Alonso’s 2017 LHP/OF and Florida commit Jordan Butler and 2016 LHP and South Florida commit Antonio Velez, ended up being a 10-4 victory in favor of Alonso. Butler helped lead the Ravens both on the mound and at the plate by throwing five innings, giving up two earned runs and striking out five, and going 2-4 with a double and two RBI’s at the plate. Also, Alonso’s Peyton Woble (2016 INF/RHP) went 2-3 with a double and two RBI’s and 2017 INF Jared DeSantelo went 2-3 with two doubles and two RBI’s.
In the top of the first, Brandon was able to strike first by scoring two unearned runs off Butler. The Eagles scored two more runs in the top of the second, one coming off an RBI single by Troy Linderman (2015 INF/RHP) and one driven by a single off the bat of 2015 C Christian Montesinos. Alonso was able to get all four runs back in the bottom of the second to tie the game, two runs came off of Woble’s double.
Butler was able to cruise through the fifth inning giving up no runs, and the Ravens were able to put up five runs in the bottom of the fifth to take a 9-5 lead. One run came off Butler’s double to deep left, and two came off DeSantelo’s double that was ripped into the right center field gap. Butler drove in Alonso’s last run in the sixth with an RBI single and the score of 10-4 ended up being final.
