Q&A with Preseason All-State Participants: Jacob and Cody Lorenzini

Prep Baseball Report Colorado is getting ready for the start of the high school spring baseball season with the Preseason All State event on February 22nd at Slammers South.  Over the course of this final week we will showcase several of the participants at this year's event.  Continuing our look is the Lorenzini brothers from Eaglecrest High School.  Jacob Lorenzini, 2015, MIF, 5-11, 155 pounds and Cody Lorenzini, 2016, RHP/MIF, 6-1, 145 pounds.

PBR:  Describe yourself as a baseball player to those who have never seen you play: 

Jacob:  I am very coachable, I respect the game, I hate to lose, very competitive, knowledge of the game, Great defensive and offensive player, run the bases well

Cody:  I hate to lose more than I like to win, I'm very competitive. I also love playing the game of baseball. I don't get rattled when I am on the mound.

PBR:  What would be your dream school to play baseball at?  If you have already committed to play at the next level, why did you choose that particular school? 

Jacob:  Any Division 1 school

Cody:  To play at any D1 school.

PBR:  What are your best assets on and off the field at this point in your high school career? 

Jacob:  Being a leader

Cody:  Making good decisions on and off the field, and being a leader.

PBR:  Describe your brother as a player to those who have not seen him play: 

Jacob:  Very calm, not easily rattled, good velocity, knows the game 

Cody:  He's a great leader, and loves the game. He is always hustling whenever he is on the baseball field.

PBR:  Not many people have the chance at any level to share the diamond with their brother, describe your best baseball memory to date you have had together: 

Jacob:  Playing at Coors Field together beating Brighton 2-1

Cody:  To watch my brother field groundballs/turn double plays while I am pitching.

PBR:  What does your off-season preparation look like this year compared to you freshman year?

Jacob:  I've always worked hard every off-season to build strength and quickness

Cody:  Working harder on building velocity, and building core and leg strength.

PBR:  What is the best baseball advice you have received and try to follow to this point in your career? 

Jacob:  Play everyday like it's your last

Cody:   Play every game like it's your last.

PBR:  What are your superstitions or routines that go on during a season? 

Jacob:  Don't step on the chalk lines

Cody:  Jump over foul lines. 

PBR:  What are your goals for:

This Season: 

Jacob:  Go to the final four

Cody:  Be a starting pitcher/infielder on varsity. 

Two Years: 

Jacob:  Be a starter at college level

Cody:  Play college baseball. 

Four Years: 

Jacob:  Division 1 and to be drafted into the MLB

Cody:  To be drafted into the MLB.
