Prep Baseball Report Colorado is ready to hit the ground running toward 2016 with two major events. The Preseason All-State event at Slammers South will take take place on February 28th. Over the coming weeks, PBR Colorado will continue to introduce you to 2016 and 2017 players who have committed to this event. Leading us off is No. 49 2017 Michael Morris 6-foot-0, 170-pound SS/3B from Cherokee Trail High School.
PBR: Describe yourself as a baseball player to those who have never seen you play:
Morris: As a player, I am very attentive and give max effort every play. It doesn’t always look pretty but I get it done.
PBR: What would be your dream school to play baseball at? If you have already committed to play at the next level, why did you choose that particular school?
Morris: My dream school to play at would be Stanford University. For me that is good fit for my academic goals as well as athletic ones.
PBR: What are your best assets on and off the field at this point in your high school career?
Morris: My best assets at this point on and off the field are my ability to put in work outside of the practice and workouts I already do.
PBR: What is the best baseball advice you have received and try to follow to this point in your career? :
Morris: Baseball is a game of failure and for that reason you have to play the game with a constant positive mind set.
PBR: What does your off-season routine look like to prepare for the upcoming season?
Morris: Throughout the week I life weights about 4 times during the off-season along with hitting in cages once or twice. As we get closer to the season I start to hit more and work on fielding mechanics at least twice a week along with continuing to lift.
PBR: What are your superstitions or routines that go on during a season?
Morris: I have basic pregame routines like no stepping on the chalk like or on the dirt before the game. But if I’m on a hitting streak I’ll wear the same thing to every game as long as it lasts.
PBR: What are your goals for:
This Season: Win a state championship
Two Years: Commit to a university to play Division 1 Baseball
Four Years: Be a starting player for a Division 1 university
