By John Cackowski
Director of Scouting

The Prep Baseball Report’s Preseason All-State event will take place this Sunday February 22nd at the Slammers South Facility Englewood, Colorado. This will be the first year of the already packed event, with over 80 players already registered. Prospects from the 2015 and 2016classes will come together in a pro-style workout to strut their stuff in front of the PBR scouting staff.

Colorado is becoming a hot bed for out of state colleges looking to recruit the always underrated talent in our state. In this preview, we look at players to watch who are not committed in the 2015 class participating in the event.

Top Uncommitted 2015 Participants (Players Listed Alphabetically)

Jeremy Champlin: Grand Junction Central
5-foot-11, 165 pounds, MIF/OF, bats and throws right. Champlin has been a starter for the Warriors since his freshman year and was All Conference last year as a junior. In 2014 Champlin lead his team in Batting Average (.385) with 25 hits on the season.

Thomas DeBonville: Summit
6-foot, 165 pounds, SS, bats and throws right. DeBonville has been a starter since his freshman year, and he has lead his team in batting average and slugging % all 3 years.  Last season DeBonville was 2nd team all conference. Has speed on the bases and has a sub 7 second 60 time. In 2014 DeBonville led the Tigers in every major offensive category BA (.488), Hits (20), RBI's (22) HR (5) and Stolen Bases (8). 3.58 G.P.A.

Aaron Ferguson: Ponderosa
5-Foot-10, 170 pounds 2B/3B bats and throws right.  Ferguson is a reliable MIF with the ability to also play third due to his strong arm. Ferguson looks to make an impact with the Mustangs this spring.

Kian Kagan: Ponderosa
5-foot-10, 150 pound SS, bats and throws right. Kagan in 2014 was one of the Mustangs top hitters hitting over .400 in the tough Continental League earning Honorable Mention All-League honors. Has a knack for getting on base. Look for Kagan to be a leader to help the Mustangs compete in the tough 5A Continental League then a potential deep 4A playoff run..

Tyler Matheny: Pine Creek
5-foot-9, 150 pound, outfielder bats and throws right. Matheny shows some speed on the bases and looks to be a potential spark plug for the Eagles. Matheny hit .305 last spring and had 9 stolen bases. He improved through the summer and fall hitting over .400 while causing havoc on the base paths for Rake Nation.

Tyler Moore: Horizon
6-1, 155 pound left handed hitting first baseman dominated in the game we saw him. Off three different pitchers he continued to hit hard line drives up the middle and almost hit one out in last at-bat at the spacious Adams State Baseball field. For Horizon, Moore hit over .400 last season. He's a good athlete, also plays basketball for Horizon.

Conner Pepin: Brighton
6-foot, 170 pound left handed pitcher. After a strong summer and fall the crafty lefty Pepin looks to make his spring debut for the Bulldogs this spring to help the Bulldogs make a deep run in the 5A playoffs.

Alejandro Torres: Eaglecrest
6-foot, 190 pounds, 3B/1B, bats right throws right. Torres is a force a the plate. Last year Torres led the Centennial League in home runs. Hitting .357 last year, Torres carried a .426 OBA and a 1.116 OPS.
