February 21, 2015
By: Zac Bottoms
Arkansas Scouting Director
Head Coach: Mitch Cameron
High School: Prairie Grove High School
Conference: 1-4A
Mascot: Tigers
PBR: What are your expectations for your team this spring?
Coach Cameron: We are will be playing a lot of guys who have some talent, but who do not have the game time experience. Our main focus is to take it one game at a time and get better that day. We feel like if we do that it will be a successful season.
PBR: Who is going to be your key contributors on the mound this spring?
Coach Cameron: Logan Gragg and Gavin Heltemes are both juniors who are returning on the mound that we feel like will be really good for us. Both have mid 80’s fastballs with a quality off speed pitches.
PBR: For your offense to be effective who do you expect to set the table? Who do you expect to drive in runs?
Coach Cameron: Offensively we are unproven, so it is hard to say. But Logan Gragg, Gaven Heltemes, Reid Orr, and Cole Speed are a few of the players that we have returning that had enough at bats last year to gain experience.
PBR: Which Underclassmen do you need to step up and fill a void by last year’s seniors?
Coach Cameron: We graduated 6 senior starters last year. We are truly starting over. It is going to be a fun year to see how much we can improve and to see who steps up for the challenge
PBR: Who is the team to beat in your conference/ your classification?
Coach Cameron: We feel like Pea Ridge and Shiloh will be the teams to beat. Pea Ridge is returning a lot of players from a great team last year. Shiloh was very competitive in the 5A conference so we expect for them to be really good in ours.
PBR: What is your biggest non-conference game and why?
Coach Cameron: We have to opportunity to play Springdale High, Har-ber High, and Harrison all on our schedule which will be really good measuring stick for us to see how we compete.
PBR: What tournaments is your team attending this spring?
Coach Cameron: We will be attending the Nashville AR. Tournament that has a field of Crossett, Magnolia, Pine Bluff, Horatio, Redwater TX, Star City and Nashville. Also, we are hosting a tournament over spring break that has Springdale, Cave City, Pottsville, Gravette, Ozark, Pea Ridge, and Farmington.
