+ RHP Colby Durden (Hewitt-Trussville, 2025) made a major statement this past summer pitching at the PBR Future Games, where he arguably had the most efficient outing of any Team Alabama pitcher tossing two scoreless innings and striking out three hitters in the process. After maybe not getting off to the best start on the mound with some command issues, the uncommitted junior had his best outing of the year last night and tossed six dominant innings against a quality opponent. Listed at 6-foot-2, 195-pounds, Durden is a strong right-hander who possesses an over-the-top slot and makes it real difficult for hitters to pick up his FB/CB mix. Sitting mostly 86-89 mph throughout the outing, the right-hander showed the ability to grab a 91 mph early in the second inning with his fastball. The offering has plenty of carry and induced vertical break and is extremely tough to get on-plane with combined with his higher slot. The breaking ball, however, was what made him so effective and virtually unhittable for the majority of the outing. Spinning it 72-75 mph and registering spin rates near the 2400 RPM range, the pitch featured tons of late 11-5 break and depth. He was able to flip it in early in the count and land it in the zone, while also using it as a swing-and-miss offering at the bottom of the zone with two strikes. He easily collected double-digit whiffs on the breaking ball alone, and created some uncomfortable swings and takes with it. He really settled into a grove after allowing a run on a pretty questionable call with two outs, and would hold the opponent scoreless for the rest of the outing. He finished tossing 6 IP, 2 H, R, & 14 Ks.
